Three things make this message work:

"We're with a customer right now" explains the missed call as busyness, not negligence. It signals demand. Homeowners understand a working plumber can't always grab the phone.

"What's going on?" invites the customer to describe their problem. Once they do, they're committed to the conversation — and far less likely to call the next plumber.

A first name at the end collapses the corporate distance. It reads like a person, not an autoresponder. Twilio's 2023 consumer messaging research found that 66% of consumers say they'll stop engaging with a brand that doesn't personalize its communication. A signed message is the lowest-friction version of personalization that exists.

Setup Takes About 20 Minutes

Most contractor CRMs — Jobber, ServiceTitan, GoHighLevel — have native missed call text-back built in. If yours doesn't, a basic Twilio webhook handles it without custom code. The logic is simple: any inbound call that rings more than 25 seconds without being answered fires the text automatically.
